=652= Word: Appointment

There are some things I cannot reconcile with myself.

I always meet with this statement that I find strange. “For his/her appointment, he wouldn’t need to do any ground work.”

“You know he is just learning, but he won’t be doing right? This is because at his appointment, he shouldn’t be doing all these.”

This statement is talking about how a person who is at a high post in a job shouldn’t/wouldn’t do certain duties, because they should be doing more “important” work.

I cannot reconcile with this statement because it just doesn’t make sense to me. It just isn’t fair you see, who says just because you are at a high rank, you shouldn’t do ground work?

Pull anyone out from the field they are familiar with and I can tell you what you are left with is someone that is inexperienced. There is so much to consider, group culture, what kind of hat you should wear, skills to learn etc etc.

Who is to say that just because I am in a high post, I cannot do things I want?

If appointment keeps me from doing things I want to do, then maybe appointment isn’t that great a thing to have.

The person with the highest post should be the most free man in spite of responsibilities. To quote one piece, to be Pirate King is to be the most free man on the sea.

It may be a very simplistic way of thinking, but I feel that if I am learning something new, I would want to be humble and start from the bottom and slowly move up. I wouldn’t want to be of high rank but no substance. I much rather have more substance than my rank requires of me. Substance and character is more important that a high post.

Is there really a need to chase after paper? Is there a need to chase after life, when you clearly know that life is chasing after you?

No wonder Agur Son of Jakeh said this:

“God, I ask you to do two things for me before I die. Don’t let me tell lies. And don’t make me too rich or too poor—give me only enough food for each day. If I have too much, I might deny that I need you, Lord. But if I am too poor, I might steal and bring shame to the name of my God.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭30:7-9‬ ‭ERV‬‬

Truly Lord, give me enough.
